This course introduces the principles of online writing, content management and search engine optimization (SEO) for the purposes of writing for businesses, not-for-profits and other organizations. Students learn how to engage online audiences by employing marketing strategies and principles. They practise writing a variety of online forms including web-landing pages, blog posts and status updates. Students are exposed to the variety of software and web tools used by digital professionals, including content management systems and social media platforms. Strategic elements, including audience analysis, website accessibility and usability, are also considered. They also learn how to repurpose content for different online platforms.
