AI for Everyone: A Hands-on Exploration of Artificial Intelligence

Course Code: SCIE 2020

Academic Year: 2024-2025

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is quickly changing the world around us. It is filtering our news feeds, assisting in discovering medicines, and driving cars. We interact with it daily, usually without noticing. But it can feel like a black box; its working hidden behind complex mathematics and code only understood by experts. In this course, we explore AI hands-on through no-code tools. These are tools that let us create with AI, without the barrier of code, to develop a rich, intuitive understanding of AI. We use AI to recognize objects in video, get insight from spreadsheet data, and even create images and music just by describing them. At the same time, we learn the fundamentals of how AI systems work and how to critically evaluate their data for bias, inclusion, and fairness. We explore creating responsible AI using best practices for equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we examine different uses and applications of AI in contemporary contexts, while at the same time also assessing its potential benefits and dangers.
