From plants that engage in chemical warfare to parasites that hijack the brains of their hosts, nature is full of examples of fascinating interactions between organisms and their environments. This course explores the strategies that individuals of different species employ to optimize their survival and their reproductive success. Human population growth, the advancement and use of medical technologies, and rapid climate change are all influencing interactions in nature, often with surprising results. Lessons are enhanced by student participation in guided ecological research projects conducted in accessible forest spaces.
