Integrated information systems drive efficiencies and productivity improvements in all areas of the supply chain, including inventory, transportation and facilities. It is reported that, due to integration of information systems, the cost of sales of the best retailer is 3% lower than that of other retailers. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems form the core of integrated business information systems. ERP systems are expensive and constitute high risk, but can provide great reward. This course provides students with historical and contemporary overviews of the evolution of information systems integration, along with detailed investigation of business processes, ERP benefits, risks, and implementation.
