In this course, students learn about public and media relations as they apply to the sport management industry. Students explore how community outreach can help to build organizational reputation. The impact of a positive public image on successful sport organizations is examined and the strategies required to meet this objective are discussed. Organizational use of mass media and new media, along with various forms of social media are critiqued throughout the course. Students learn about the role that media plays in sport, and the methods available to organizations to effectively communicate to the audience.
