The increase in participation and interest within the sport industry comes with an increased cost and the financial needs of sport and recreation organizations must be met. The purpose of the sponsorship and fundraising course is to develop, in detail, a practical and systematic approach to obtaining resources in both the business and not-for-profit sectors of sport, including how approach potential sponsors and donor organizations in a professional manner. An in-depth look at the role of grants, fundraising initiatives, gifts and donations is part of the student experience in this course. Students also explore the growth and evolution of sports sponsorship and the valuable tangible and intangible rewards sponsorship can bring.
