Indigenous Studies for Social Services Workers

This course is an introduction to the historical and contemporary realities of Indigenous People in Canada. Students will understand and analyze the effects of systemic oppression, anti-Indigenous racism and intergenerational trauma in relation to Indigenous communities in Canada. This course provides students with an opportunity to explore the richness and diversity of Indigenous Peoples, including First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples, with a special emphasis on working within the Social Service Field.
