Students are introduced to the concepts and methods of statistics, including variability, randomness, and probability. Students learn how to collect, analyze and display data using a variety of tools and statistical measures, while learning the advantages and disadvantages of different sampling techniques to collect data. Students study basics of probability theory and well known discrete and continuous probability distributions and their analyses. Students use a statistical software program to facilitate the analysis of data sets and the understanding of statistical concepts, and to carry out simulation of experiments.
