During this practicum, students make TCM diagnoses and apply the full scope of TCM treatments including acupuncture, herbal medicine and auxiliary modalities. The emphasis of this clinical practice is on assessment, TCM diagnosis, formulating a TCM treatment principle and treatment plan, while incorporating all of the TCM therapeutic tools into treatments. Students apply knowledge, skills and critical thinking to the practice of TCM. They adhere to safe practice guidelines, including Aseptic Needling Procedure, professional ethics, and risk management. When in direct patient contact, students practice incorporating all of these components into clinical practice. At the end of the practicum, students successfully demonstrate the knowledge, skills and judgement required for practicing TCM herbology and acupuncture independently.
