Course Code: TECH 156
Academic Year: 2025-2026
This course covers the fundamental laws and basic concepts governing the behaviour of alternating current circuits. Circuits containing passive components, such as resistance, inductance and capacitance connected in series or in parallel, are analyzed when sinusoidal currents run through them. The more general concepts of inductance and admittance are introduced and used to develop circuits that are useful as passive filters, resonant circuits and lead and lag networks. An introduction to the transformer is studied for use in power circuits, electronic circuits and signal coupling. Complementary laboratory work includes the use of analog and digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and signal generators.
