This course is an introduction to networking and networking devices. Students will learn how to interconnect of personal computers, switches, routers etc. The course will emphasize IPv4 addressing including sub-netting and super-netting, explore packet analysis of common TCP/IP networking protocols and services supported by Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, ARP, DHCP, and DNS. Significant time will be spent in practical, hands-on exercises using common networking commands and packet-capture software to investigate and troubleshoot common networking problems.
