Globalization and sustainable tourism is an evolving and dynamic issue in the tourism industry. This course provides an understanding of contemporary issues and challenges within the tourism industry impacted or created by globalization. It examines international tourism growth patterns and how tourism businesses and destinations are evolving and operating in a global environment. In addition, this course explores sustainable and responsible tourism development practices and impacts associated with tourism development as well as corresponding strategies for maximizing benefits and minimizing adverse effects. Using case studies, students will identity and assess best practices in sustainability as an integral part of organizational or corporate responsibility.
