Learn how profit in Tourism is in the accounting details. This course assumes no accounting background on the students part and will foster their understanding of financial information from the accounting cycle and client sales transactions to financial statements and measuring the income of a tourism operation. Students will learn tourism specific financial terminology, basic accounting principles and reporting instruments and compile and complete a variety of client files while paying particular attention to administrative legalities. Accounting software will be used to improve the students' overall understanding of tourism accounting practices. Course content includes financial transaction analysis, adjustments, inventory cash control, budgeting, sales tax, payroll, and revenue/yield management.
