This course develops students' skills sets and abilities in entrepreneurship, a key area in the tourism industry. The course prepares students for the entrepreneurial nature of many careers in the travel/tourism industry, such as at-home travel agents,boutique tour operators and other grassroots tourism enterprises. Additionally, students will understand how an entrepreneurial approach can lead to success in already established businesses.Concepts in this course are based on Humbers Longo Faculty of Business, Centre for Entrepreneurship, "Be Your Own Boss" modules. These modules include ideation, research, identifying the customer, feasibility, business models, pitching your idea, and resources/next steps. Students will apply these concepts to develop a tourism-oriented business, including a marketing plan, finances, operations and pitching their idea.
