This course will examine the concept of 'victim' through various theoretical frameworks, historical contexts, prevention strategies, and interventions within the Canadian criminal justice system. Students will explore crime, victims' experiences and their repercussions on their lives, families, and community, and issues relating to public safety. This involves studying the evolution of victimology and the victims' rights movement, understanding the nature and scope of victimization, as well as analyzing emerging theories and related legislation.
