This course builds upon foundational knowledge in ICVFX and now applies the techniques to working with an industry partner commercial company to produce a real-world commercial. The course will focus on blending the virtual and physical sets, including lighting design and set extension. Students will learn about VP LED Volume set protocols and the full VP toolkit - including remote control, DMX, open sound control, version control, networking, and genlock. The course will train students to use real-time specific terminology and how to interface with other crew members, including collaborators from 3D animation, film production and creative commercial production. Students will learn about optimization, troubleshooting, prioritizing and contingency planning for technical challenges. Students will hold positions of VP Technical Director, UE On-Set technician, Motion Capture (MOCAP) Technical Director, VP Producer and Virtual Art Department (VAD) Supervisor.
