Microwave and Fibre Optics

Course Code: WLS 5500

Academic Year: 2025-2026

This course will look at how to implement microwave and fiber optic networks to support next generation telecommunications networks. For both microwave- and fiber optic-based networks, students will be able to compare and contrast various topologies and do design calculations to ensure that the networks will support to the functional requirements of the system. Students will appreciate the implementation and testing processes required to commission and maintain networks. In the fiber portion of the course, students will work with fiber fusion splicers, and measurement equipment to build and test fiber network.
