Course Code: WORK 5000
Academic Year: 2025-2026
The Exercise Science and Lifestyle Management Experiential Learning courses provide practical experience for students to apply their learning to the working environment. The course encourages students to develop concrete and realistic goals for the application of new skills based on the needs of the current workplace. This is the first of three work-integrated learning opportunities built into the program. This experience allows students to practice and develop their skills in areas such as fitness testing, exercise prescription, counseling, and coaching clients to meet their fitness and lifestyle goals. Through the experience of working with clients, students also learn the importance of the communication process, motivational interviewing, emotional intelligence, active listening, and verbal/non-verbal communication.
