This course is an introductory study of the casino, resort and spa sectors. While separate industries, these sectors, either individually or collectively, contribute to the tourism impact of a region. The casino module considers the impacts of gambling as a form of recreation. The resort module looks at the geographical and operational differences between regular hotels and resort properties. The spa module explores the evolution of the spa industry and its contemporary role in niche tourism. The interrelationships among these three sectors are examined.
