This course surveys the major methods currently in use by organizations for resolving disputes by situating alternative dispute resolution in its historical, social and legal context. The course examines alternative resolution mechanisms such as mediation, arbitration and conciliation. Continuing and increasing emphasis on settlement mechanisms makes this an essential component of the program.
