This course introduces students to the operation and management of the rooms division of a hotel. The major focus of the course is the inter-relationship of the guest and the key departments of the division including guest services, reservations and uniformed services. It provide students with the opportunity to gain insight into the role and function of the specific departments and their key positions. Students explore the concepts and practices of operational standards, staffing, products and services. This course is enhanced with a weekly lab where students train on the use of a hotel property management system. In addition, students visit a hotel while on a field trip and hear from guest speakers in the classroom.
