HIST 218

Academic Year

2016-2017

History is not simply the study of names and dates. History is about people and how they interact with their physical environment, how they create and express ideas about power, and how they define their place in the world. Beginning with the early voyages of discovery in the 15th century, and ending in the late 20th century, this course uses select historical examples to explore how Europeans, Africans, Asians and the peoples of North and South America interacted with each other and how politics, society, economics, religion, science, technology and culture changed as a result.
