As the Ontario government tourism ad boasts, "There's no place like this!" Many people often under-estimate the incredible natural world that we have here. This course attempts to change that notion through a study of our natural wonders. Nature Of Ontario looks at the natural history and physical environment of Ontario. This includes the study of our geology, glacial history, weather and climate, plants and animals. The course presents our three unique geographic areas: the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Lowlands, the Canadian Shield, and the Hudson Bay Lowlands. In a course of this type there is an outdoor study component. Nature Of Ontario makes use of the Humber College Arboretum for class outings, and a trip to the Niagara Escarpment, a World Biosphere Reserve, is also featured.
