Analyze current Ontario occupational health and safety legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. The student will study the practical application of the legislation in the workplace including government, employer and employee or union roles and responsibilities. The emphasis is on accident and illness prevention, monitoring, maintenance and control systems for worker health and safety, as well as management of workers? compensation claims and appeals.

Please note that students who choose to take an online section of this course must write the final exam in person (either at the Humber North or Lakeshore campus, or (if located more than 100km from the campus) through an approved proctoring facility. Any costs associated with this are the sole responsibility of the student.
