Welcome to the Innovative Learning Build Team

So, your Associate Dean has tasked you to work with Innovative Learning to develop an online course. This means that you have a whole team and lots of fantastic resources at your disposal. Let’s start by getting familiar with the key members of the IL build team at Humber.

Build Team Member Main Functionality
Subject Matter Expert (SME) When you are working with the Innovative Learning team, you are the subject matter expert. The subject matter expert provides all the course content. As the SME, you will also review the completed course and offer suggestions for final edits. In certain cases, more than one SME will be assigned to a course build.
Instructional Designer (ID) The instructional designer ensures that the courses are built with sound instructional design principles, such as Universal Design for Learning. The ID is responsible for the overall instructional integrity of the course and ensures that the course meets all of the required standards. The ID will work closely with you to ensure that all learning materials and assessments are aligned with learning outcomes.
Graphic Designer (GD) The graphic designer provides page design, and sources or creates visuals.
Programmer The programmer transfers the course content into Blackboard Ultra, following best practices for web design. They develop the course using a variety of authoring tools (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Project Manager (PM) The project manager oversees the entire project. They are the primary contact point between all parties and are responsible for developing timelines, discussing potential risks and budgeting.
