Humber’s Equity & Student Life Team is proud to host the Display Your Pride Contest!

Everyone who enters in this years contest will be eligible to win 1 of 2 $50 gift cards to Glad Day Book Shop! Humber College’s theme for Pride 2023 is “Queer Joy.” Amid growing curbs on the freedoms of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in the US and around the world, it is more important than ever that institutions like Humber make space for the celebration of queer life. 2SLGBTQIA+ people both inside and outside of Humber need to have their celebrations and happiness be an integral part of the wider community. When faced with forces that seek to restrict, invalidate or erase their lives, queer joy is a radical act. Realized fully, queer joy can continue to shape Humber into a more accepting, healthy and resilient community.

This year’s Display Your Pride theme will also be Humber’s theme of Queer Joy. Decorate your space in a way that acknowledges and celebrates the diverse histories, stories and political resistance of the of two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual community. Decorate your individual space or Humber office space to showcase the theme of the contest. Use images, show signs, or provide information about the history of Pride and Queer Joy. Spaces may include your work or study from home “office” space, balcony, backyard, or any other space you want to show off. Creativity is strongly encouraged. We also encourage you to decorate your individual spaces through a sustainability lens. Once you’ve created your display, take a photograph of it and submit it via the submission form here. 

Try to have your Pride display up for Tuesday, June 13th 2023: on this day, many of the GTA’s colleges and universities will be celebrating Display Your Pride. Please share photos of your display to social media on June 13th with the hashtags #DisplayYourPride #HumberPride2023 #QueerJoy The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
