This course provides students with an understanding of the basic concept of physical fitness and its relationship to sport performance. The course largely focuses on the components of fitness, sport training, sport nutrition and sport psychology. Students examine these components with a specific emphasis on how they relate to a wide variety of sports. This provides students with the necessary knowledge to understand the nuances involved in sport training, which will allow them to more effectively communicate with various stakeholders in the sport delivery system. These stakeholders include technical sport staff; coaches; sport development staff of community, provincial and national sport organizations; and various team personnel.
