The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion (Centre) provides human rights and equity programs and services to the Humber Community. All Centre initiatives integrate the complex and often contradictory ways that socially constructed identities intersect and interlock. As such, initiatives extend beyond binaries such as male/female, black/white, gay/straight, able/disabled to include multiple layers of identity that are experienced simultaneously. This intersectional and integrative approach grounded in a practice of care is woven throughout the Centre’s programs and services.
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion ensures that equity, diversity and inclusion are instilled throughout Humber.
We lead and coordinate compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Anti-Racism Act, Employment Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the O. Reg. 131/16: Sexual Violence At Colleges And Universities through policy development and targeted educational awareness and communication strategies.
