President’s Blog: Closing the book on the Winter 2021 term

Two students sit across from each other at a picnic table on the lawn with Humber's LRC building in the background

One of the things I miss most about not being on campus is the feeling and activity that would fill the halls this time of year. Students excited about completing the term, putting the finishing touches on their capstone projects or just looking forward to the warmer months ahead.

While we can’t collectively gather to celebrate those moments together in person this year, I have been so impressed with the end of year shows and events that have been taking place virtually. The caliber of the work, the supportive faculty and staff, and the sense of community has not just been maintained but has flourished.

Many students may be looking forward to virtual Convocation, set to be held in June. It is one of my favourite times of year, when we can celebrate the achievements of our graduates as they move forward into their futures. We look forward to sharing more details about virtual convocation soon.

I also wanted to acknowledge that the ongoing pandemic and associated restrictions are challenging, and we are all experiencing them in our own way. As always, I encourage you to treat each other with respect and compassion, and continue to check in on your classmates, colleaguesfriends and family

Ware looking forward to welcoming new and returning students to the Summer term beginning on May 10.

In the meantime, as we close out the Winter 2021 term, I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.

Take care and be well.
