Technology continues to make it easier for us to work, live and communicate with each other every day driven by innovations in the electronics industry. Electronics engineering technologists play a critical role in this industry contributing to the design, development, testing, production and maintenance of electronic systems and components.
Humber’s advanced diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology will prepare you for career opportunities in a wide range of industry sectors and boasts one of the highest employability rates. This advanced diploma builds on the skills gained in the two-year technician diploma program through design- and project-based courses, technical capstone project, and exposure to electronic product development.
The program takes a system design and integration approach to electronic applications. You will gain a solid foundation and hands-on training in:
- analog and digital electronics, and fabrication
- coding and embedded microcontrollers
- industrial, scientific and medical instrumentation
- signal acquisition and processing
- photonics, fiber optics, microwave links and antennas
- RF communications and networking
- control systems, automation and mechatronics
- current application areas such as AI/Machine Learning, IoT, smart cities and edge computing
Emphasis is placed on practical hands-on learning through project- and challenge-based learning approaches, to help prepare students for entry into the workforce and promote life-long learning. We also provide opportunities for you to engage with various co-curricular activities to build your resume. This includes avenues such as applied research and interdisciplinary projects on emerging technologies in broadcast networks, printed/wearable electronics, IoT, AI/Machine Learning, and AR/VR systems.
The program has been designed in collaboration with an advisory panel comprised of industry experts to ensure you are learning the most up-to-date and relevant skills.
This program offers an placement. Optional co-operative education placements enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in a work environment and gain valuable, practical experience related to your program of study. You will learn new skills, learn about the world of work and meet people in your profession.
For students who are accepted into the program, two optional co-operative education placements will take place. The first four-month placement is between Semesters 2 and 3, and the second four-month placement is between Semesters 4 and 5. There are limited spaces in the co-op option. Therefore, you will apply for the co-op option during Semester 1 and be informed of the process by which to apply. While optional co-operative education placements are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market, participating students will receive a wide range of services to help them find a co-op opportunity.

Academic
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
- Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
- Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
- Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above

Mature Applicants
Diplomas and Certificates
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.
Degrees
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.
College Transfer Applicants

An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.
Degrees

Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

International Credit Evaluation
Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.
