The Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture is a specialized program designed to meet the educational requirements set by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). This 3-year program combines traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles with modern biomedical science to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to treat a wide range of health conditions.
Students will gain a solid foundation in TCM theories, research and clinical practice, ensuring they can safely and effectively apply acupuncture and other TCM modalities. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical understanding and hands-on training to prepare graduates for professional practice.
The mandatory professional practicums provide students with progressive practice experience in diagnosing, preparing and executing treatment plans, inter-professional collaboration, and safe practices. Mandatory professional practicums occur throughout the year at community clinics within the Greater Toronto Area, as well as at our North Campus clinic. This program's robust clinical component ensures our students meet the regulatory body’s requirements for clinical education and are well-prepared for successful careers.
Learners enrolled in this program will be required to travel off‑campus to complete a portion of the work‑integrated learning. Learners are also required to have up‑to‑date vaccinations and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check prior to beginning any WIL experience. These requirements support the safety of both learners and patients in clinical environments.

Academic
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
- Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
- Grade 11 or Grade 12 Biology (SBI3C, SBI3U or SBI4U)
- Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U course in addition to those listed above

Mature Applicants
Diplomas and Certificates
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.
Degrees
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.
College Transfer Applicants

An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.
Degrees

Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

International Credit Evaluation
Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.
