In the Animation 3D Advanced Diploma program, you will develop a well-rounded knowledge base and skillset that includes strong art, animation, modelling and visualization abilities. Developed with the input of industry advisors, this program gives you a thorough understanding of the latest 3D digital art technologies and prepares you for the ever-expanding 3D art field. Learn to work like the pros do using industry standard 3D animation software and tools to render creative thoughts into compelling images and fully realized designs.
 
You will develop a blend of the most relevant digital and analog art skills, as well as an understanding of creative and technological processes. A strong foundation of art and design theories will help you visualize and apply design principles to create appealing three dimenional artwork. You will also gain mastery in adhering to a production pipeline as you develop content across courses and programs. Teamwork is emphasized as you collaborate with students from other programs to simulate a studio/production environment.​

Admission Requirements

Admission selection is based on the following 5 requirements:

    Academic

    To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
      • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
      • Three Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above

    Mature Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

    College Transfer Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility. Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

    International Credit Evaluation

    Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.

    Portfolio

    Applicants will submit a portfolio that includes 10 examples of original work. A variety of media is ideal (e.g. drawing, painting, musical, written and photography) to evaluate how you work creatively with different tools.

    Written Statement

    Select three (3) of the pieces in your portfolio. For each of the three (3) pieces, in 150 words, describe why you chose to include that piece in your portfolio. (max 150 words per description).

Additional Costs

Approximately $500 - software and art supplies (for two semesters).
 
Students of this program will need to own a high-end computer and peripheral devices (Wacom Tablet, external hard drive HD, etc.). This expense will be in addition to the costs for software and supplies listed above. Equipment recommendations are provided before the beginning of the semester.
