Certificate
Program Code: GR611
Campus: North, Downtown (IGS)
Length: 2 semesters
The Graphic Design for Print and Digital Media certificate is an intensive, two-semester program designed to equip students with the technical skills, creative problem-solving abilities and industry knowledge required for careers in digital and print design. This program provides hands-on experience with industry-standard software, design principles, typography, branding and user experience (UX) concepts while fostering the creativity and critical thinking necessary for professional success.
Students will develop a professional portfolio that showcases their ability to design compelling visual content for various media, including print publications, web interfaces, social media and digital advertising. Through a combination of practical projects, industry exposure and real-world applications, graduates will be prepared for entry-level roles in graphic design studios, advertising agencies, marketing firms or as freelance designers.
This program is eligible for Better Jobs Ontario funding. Further details and how to apply are found at Better Jobs Ontario.
All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must demonstrate interest in graphic design and strong computer literacy by submitting a portfolio that includes 2-3 samples of their original creative work. This may include graphic designs, illustrations, paintings/sculptures, web designs, animations, architectures, or anything from a design-related field.
For one piece of work, applicants should also include a written description, in 100 to 150 words, outlining any notable details of your portfolio pieces (e.g. software used, design techniques applied, and project purpose).
