Television Writing and Producing

Ontario Graduate Certificate

Program Code: TW511

Campus: Online

Length: 2 semesters

Humber’s TV Writing and Producing graduate certificate combines flexible online learning with an optional immersive in-person residency at our Lakeshore campus, ideal for both recent graduates and working professionals. Spread over two semesters, our curriculum blends creativity and business with a focus on impactful storytelling to equip emerging writers and producers with the skills and connections to excel in the scripted and unscripted industries across Canada and internationally.

Students will learn how to write, create, and produce for multiple formats including: half-hour television, animated children's programming, one-hour episodic television, reality programming, documentary series, and feature films.

Our producing courses cover the legal, technical, and artistic methods of production. Additional courses cover the marketplace from a current and future-focused perspective to understand the industry’s evolving needs. This, along with our emphasis on writing both for the unscripted and scripted space, prepares students for careers in writers’ rooms, as production co-ordinators and managers, as development executives, and as story producers and story editors. Courses are led by award-winning professors who are industry professionals and who bring real-world knowledge and application into the classroom.
