Campus: Lakeshore
Length: 4 semesters
Humber’s Theatre Arts - Technical Production diploma program provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to launch your career working in the performing arts industry. By learning how to build props, costumes, set pieces, paint scenery, incorporate light, sound, and video into a theatrical performance or live event, and serve the collaborative team through stage management, you will have the foundational knowledge to work in theatre, film, television, as well as concert and live event production. This program allows graduates to focus their career objectives towards just one of these branches of the performing arts or any combination of them, depending on where your interests lie. Want to solely work in theatre? You’ll have those skills. You’d prefer to jump between staging concerts and working on film and television sets? We’ve got you covered! We focus on creative work in a collaborative artistic environment with professional discipline, broad-based training, and education in all areas of production for the performing arts, while instilling a commitment to lifelong learning in this constantly changing field. Our faculty have substantial industry experience and full-time professional careers in the performing arts industry. We teach production primarily through the lens of theatrical productions, since theatre is the most holistic amalgamation of the skills and techniques required by all performing arts. During your time in the program, you will also have opportunities collaborate and be exposed to some of Humber’s other exciting creative programs. Collaborations with external partners further round out your overall experience and provide networking opportunities to help kick start your career.
