Turn your love of gaming into a satisfying career as a game programmer for a large AAA studio, a small indie studio or for companies looking to leverage emerging technology. Career opportunities include:

You will graduate from this program with a well-rounded skillset that combines mathematics, physics and graphics within the field of game programming with a strong emphasis on hands-on C++ coding. Access to our VR room, where content creators can experiment and innovate with emerging technologies, will enrich your learning experience.

With a high degree of game-engine expertise, familiarity with 3D modelling, scripting and project management, you will have the tools you need to compete and succeed in the rapidly expanding field of game development.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all the requirements below in order to meet minimum program eligibility. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an offer of admission. Admission decisions will be available via MyHumber, or by email and mail. Admission decisions will not be released by phone.

Admission selection is based on the following 3 requirements:

    Academic

    To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
      • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
      • Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
      • Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above

    Physics and/or computer science is recommended preparation for this program.

    Mature Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

    College Transfer Applicants

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

Internet-enabled Personal Computer

Laptop Requirements 

Upon admission, students are required to own or have guaranteed access to a laptop. The Game Programming courses are designed such that the professor can jump from theoretical to practical aspects of game development at any time during class. Therefore, students are expected to bring a laptop to every class. Students are advised to choose a laptop that can handle the newest versions of Visual Studio, Unity, Unreal, 3DS Max, OpenGL, and Android Studio. Professors will generally be using the Microsoft Windows operating system in class.

Additional Costs

Approximately $50 – computer lab fee (per semester) and $2,000 – textbooks, course packs, print cards, etc. (for complete program).
