Humber’s Massage Therapy advanced diploma program provides you with the in-depth academic preparation and hands-on practical experience required to become a valued member of a health-care team.
Working in our state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll develop the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct a patient assessment, develop treatment plans, deliver safe and effective treatment, and evaluate outcomes. You’ll also learn how to run a successful business, preparing you to become an entrepreneur or own a private practice.
As regulated health-care professionals, massage therapists are overseen by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Massage Therapy Act.
Our mission is to develop knowledgeable, compassionate and respectful massage therapy learners who will become outstanding leaders, effective practitioners and important contributors to their communities.
Start-completion timeline:
September - Students beginning their studies in September complete the program in three academic years including a summer break after the second and fourth semesters.
January - Students beginning their studies in January complete the program in three academic years. Students will complete their second semester in the summer term and have a summer break after the fourth semester.
May - Students beginning their studies in May complete the program in three academic years, including winter breaks after the second and fourth semesters.
Our curriculum is designed to emphasize depth and breadth in your clinical experience. You will have the opportunity to practise your skills with seven unpaid – four of which take place on campus in our Massage Therapy Teaching & Learning Clinic and three of which take place off campus in the community. Thanks to our community partnerships, you will be introduced to a variety of health-care settings and given the opportunity to work with a diverse group of patients. To graduate, students need to achieve a minimum of 330 field experience hours. These hours are achieved through taking part in both their on-campus mandatory internship and clinical mandatory professional practicum internship courses. These hours have been advised by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA).

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.
An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.
Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.
