    A) Jazz Standard: Two jazz standard pieces of contrasting style/tempo with accompaniment (live or iReal/Aebersold/Band-in-a-Box etc.), approximately 2-5 minutes each. Play the melody and improvise on one or two choruses (depending on the length/tempo of the tune). One piece should be a slow or medium tempo ballad, blues, or Bossa Nova tune (eg. I Can’t Get Started, Body and Soul, Georgia, Blue Monk, Summertime). The other piece should be a medium or up-tempo song (eg. There Will Never Be Another You, Tenor Madness, Just Friends, Green Dolphin Street, Bye Bye Blackbird, Confirmation, Joy Spring, or Night In Tunisia).

    B) Classical Piece: The classical selection can be a technical or lyrical study/etude, or one movement of a concerto. No accompaniment is required but you may choose to have it. If you use accompaniment, please avoid long introductions without the actual solo.  Your classical selection should be at least equivalent to Grade 8 Conservatory.

Examples (Etudes/Concerto): Kopprasch, Maxime-Alphonse/Saint-Saens- Morceau de Concert

Scales: Concert F and Bb Major, G Harmonic Minor scales, played slurred two octaves in eighth notes (1/4 = 120). Concert G Major, Ab Melodic Minor scales, played staccato two octaves in eighth notes (1/4 = 100).

Triads (Arpeggiated): Your choice of any major, minor and augmented triad (one each) arpeggiated staccato two octaves in eighth notes (1/4= 100, all staccato).

Any Range Exercise: This should be something that goes from your bottom register up to your highest register and back down (eg. slurred harmonics). Bass trombonists/tubists should choose one that demonstrates their low range.
