Digital Business Management, Bachelor of Commerce

Ministry Title: Bachelor of Commerce - Digital Business Management

Honours Degree

Program Code: DB411

Campus: Lakeshore

Length: 8 semesters starting in September

Technology has drastically changed the way that business is conducted locally and globally. The integration of information systems with web communications in e-commerce allows businesses to refine customer service, enhance manufacturing and inventory control, develop interactive websites, market products and services to multiple audiences, and more. Our program combines a general business degree with broad computer and communication technology know-how that will set you up with the digital business skills and knowledge to help companies compete in the global commercial economy.

Graduates of our program have found employment within the financial, retail and communications industries, government ministries, not-for-profit and public service organizations, and small- and medium-sized manufacturing and consulting businesses in positions such as:

  • communications and digital marketing specialist
  • project or content manager
  • Internet marketer
  • web developer
  • social media or marketing co-ordinator
  • pricing analyst
  • product manager
  • distribution manager
  • purchaser/buyer

This program, which includes a work placement component, provides you with a foundation of business studies in areas such as organizational behaviour, law, economics, finance and accounting, marketing, and operations management. By graduation, your e-business skills will include developing digital business sales and marketing plans, employing project management and change management tools, analyzing financial issues, integrating effective and efficient supply chain management operations/tactics/strategies, and streamlining business processes using information and communication technology (ICT).

Work Placement

The program requires that you complete 14 weeks/420 hours of paid work in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the hands-on, real-world experience that employers value. Your placement will give you the opportunity to explore the field you’d like to work in when you graduate. We will work with employers and our industry partners to help you identify opportunities to pursue.
