Humber’s Fire Services diploma program teaches you the theory of fire science, fire prevention, safety, and physical and mental health while working in a collaborative environment. You will gain a well-rounded education in fire services and will acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required by fire and emergency services. You will also develop personal resilience strategies to manage the rigors of this career.

An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.
An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.
An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.

Vulnerable Sector Check
Prior to the commencement of the second year of study, students may require a vulnerable sector check. The cost is the responsibility of the student. Certain requirements including the vulnerable sector check are beyond the control of Humber and may prevent students from completing the full program and/or securing employment. Students will be guided as they apply for the correct type of police documentation at the appropriate time.
Practical-based Physical Activity
Before participating in this program, students are expected to demonstrate a personal commitment to physical activity and healthy living, and possess the ability to participate in practical-based physical activity courses: resistance training, group exercise classes, cardiovascular training, plyometrics and flexibility training.
