Motivated. Creative. Innovative. If these words describe you, then our intensive Graphic Design for Print and Web certificate program is for you. You will learn industry-best practices and how to craft effective design solutions using composition, typography, illustration, interactive media and web design. Throughout our program, you will work towards developing a cutting-edge portfolio filled with realistic projects that will help you stand out in the creative field of graphic and web design.

In order to achieve the best, you will learn from the best. This program offers you instruction on industry standard applications and workflow, latest hardware, and design trends. Our classes are facilitated by experienced faculty who are working professionals in their field of practice and study. Over the course of the program, you will build connections with industry professionals, alumni and community partners to help prepare you for future career opportunities, through supportive mentorship and coaching.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all the requirements below in order to meet minimum program eligibility. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an offer of admission. Admission decisions will be available via MyHumber, or by email and mail. Admission decisions will not be released by phone.

Admission selection is based on the following 3 requirements:

    Academic

    To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

    • Practical work experience or education in a design-related field such as fine arts, digital design, illustration, photography, web design/development, marketing, prepress, etc.
    • Interest in learning and pursuing a career in multimedia and/or design industry
    • Computer literacy (Windows or Mac)
    • Portfolio of four to six design pieces of traditional or digital media (samples may include graphic design, illustration, paintings/sculptures or web design)
    • Current resumé
    • Letter of intent

    Mature Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or other postsecondary school, and will be 19 or older as of the first day of classes. Humber will invite you for testing to demonstrate that you meet all listed course requirements.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a mature applicant if they have not completed secondary school or attended postsecondary studies, and will be 21 or older as of the first day of classes. Mature applicants for degree programs will be required to meet course requirements at the U/M level or equivalent.

    College Transfer Applicants

    Diplomas and Certificates

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility.

    Degrees

    An applicant is considered a college transfer applicant if they have completed some or all of a college-level credential. Humber may use a combination of secondary school and/or college courses and grades to determine program eligibility. Applicants must have an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 per cent in the program. Applicants are required to disclose and provide academic transcripts for all course work completed at the postsecondary level.

    University Transfer Applicants

    Portfolio

    Applicants will present a portfolio that includes 4 – 6 examples of original work, a resume, and a personal statement which summarizes academic, personal and career objectives. You should also include a written description outlining any notable details of your portfolio pieces (i.e. software used, design techniques applied and project purpose).
