Wellness Coaching

Ontario Graduate Certificate

Program Code: WC511

Campus: Online

Length: 2 semesters

Humber’s Wellness Coaching graduate certificate program prepares you to work in the field of health and wellness coaching. The program's online delivery is uniquely designed with the working student in mind. Throughout the program you will gain knowledge and skills for promoting health and wellness and preventing or managing disease. You will also learn to establish effective coaching relationships; support sustainable behaviour change through practices such as motivational interviewing and mindfulness; manage health and wellness programs; and improve quality of life for people with chronic conditions. You will empower individuals and groups to self-advocate, as they set and achieve healthy behaviour change goals. You will engage with clients in experiential learning opportunities via Humber’s Centre of Innovation for Health & Wellness and also in field placements within a variety of organizational settings.

The Wellness Coaching programs offers several exciting certifications and opportunities for students. As part of the program you will receive Mental Health First Aid Certification and the WellCoaches Core Training program. Upon completing that training, you will be eligible to pursue further certifications from WellCoaches, The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, and the International Coaching Federation. Furthermore, our program has been approved by the Canadian Health Coach Alliance which will allow you to use the “Registered Health Coach” title with proof of graduation.

Program Delivery: Courses are scheduled over two 14-week semesters and offer a blend of self-directed online modules and synchronous remote classes that take place in the evenings. Placement occurs in Semester 2 and includes both in-person and virtual options.

This program is not available to international applicants.

A core aspect of the program is a in which students apply for a placement opportunity where they can gain valuable work experience to support their personal and professional growth. Students can apply to a number of field experience sites secured by Humber's Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness work-integrated learning officer or seek out their own opportunities including completing the placement within their current employment setting. Students are exposed to inter-professional learning, planning and leadership, coaching practice, collegiality, and collaboration. The field experience consists of 210 hours.
