What is the Leadership Initiative Fund (LIF)?
Is there an event or initiative you really want to see on campus that isn't happening, or do you have a cool idea for a workshop or activity you want to organize? Pitch your idea, and Leadership Programs can help make that happen!
The Leadership Initiative Fund (LIF) is a NEW program for Humber College students to learn, lead, and create their own event or initiative on campus. Here, you will have the opportunity to create an event or initiative proposal to be submitted to a committee for approval.
If successful, students will have the opportunity to host their program on campus, and learn the ins and outs of how to create, run, and evaluate their own program.
Who is the committee?
The committee consists of professional staff from Humber's Student Success and Engagement and IGNITE, who will evaluate the event proposal and decide on the awarding of funds.
How do I get started?
Please review the Leadership Initiative Fund Information Guide for full details of the program and the application/funding process before submitting an application.
All items in the Application Package must be submitted in order for an application for Funds to be considered.
Eligible students will receive a follow-up on application submissions. The follow-up will discuss further information or details, extended support, and/or approval of the event/initiative.
The first cycle of applications are now open. Please submit your application here by October 20, 2023. Applications will be reviewed by the committee on October 27th, 2023.
Following documents are required to submit with your application:
- LIF Event/Initiative Details Document
- LIF Budget Template (you can download this budget template or create your own)
- Student Event Risk Assessment Form
Who's eligible?
All current Humber students who are enrolled in a diploma, certificate, or degree program.
*Please note, events or initiatives that are a required component of credit courses are not eligible to receive funding under this program. Events or initiatives that are eligible for funding from other sources will also not be eligible for funding under this program.
What do I need?
As a requirement for your submission, you will need to connect with a faculty member or professional staff member to fulfill the role of Initiative Supervisor.
Expenses for the event will be monitored by your Staff/Faculty Initiative Supervisor.
It is recommended that you submit your proposal as a team so responsibilities can be shared. We will provide you with detailed program planning documents to help keep you organized and guide you through each step of the process.
