TORONTO, ONTARIO – Humber College, in partnership with the EC-Council, is offering a new micro-credential that will equip the next generation of cyber security professionals to meet industry needs. The Certified Ethical Hacker Micro-Credential offers learners with focused industry knowledge, practice and certification integrated in one offering. Successful learners will also receive the highly desired EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) certification.
A Certified Ethical Hacker is a skilled professional who identifies weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems. They use the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker, but in a lawful and legitimate manner. Taught by Humber faculty and industry professionals, this unique certification provides extensive integrated practical learning experiences, lab access and comprehensive assessment to ensure that learners are proficient with the most in-demand skills in industry.
“As we’ve seen from recent major hacking incidents, the threat to the private and public sector is real and always present, especially as more people continue to work remotely,” said Francis Syms, associate dean of Continuous Professional Learning in the Faculty of Social and Community Services at Humber College. “Humber is responding to organizations’ need for more professionals in the cyber security space to take on the threat of bad actors. This micro-credential enhances Humber’s capacity within our Justice programs to educate learners to combat digital crimes along with supporting diversified approaches to the ever-changing nature of harm.”
Humber College and the EC-Council entered a partnership in 2021 to provide learners with access to advanced cyber ranges, designation exams and professional development opportunities. The EC-Council's core mission is to support organizations, educators, governments, and individuals to address global workforce problems by developing and curating world-class cybersecurity education programs and certifications while also providing cybersecurity services to some of the largest businesses around the world.
"Our partnership with Humber College provides an opportunity for the community to experience our most dynamic version of Certified Ethical Hacker yet in an accelerated, part-time, online format,” said Wesley Alvarez, director of Academics at EC-Council. “The added lab range and Capture-the-Flag learning experiences in version 12 allow participants to learn the most common tools and exploits used by malicious hackers today. Participants will spend 60% of their class time in the range, working through the most compromising attacks organizations fall victim to on a daily basis.”
