Toronto, ON – Humber Polytechnic has been officially recognized as a Moose Hide Campaign Ambassador Campus, reinforcing its commitment to ending gender-based violence and advancing reconciliation.

In a special plaque presentation ceremony, representatives from the Moose Hide Campaign Development Society joined Humber’s Indigenous Education and Engagement (IE&E) team and students to mark this significant milestone.

The Moose Hide Campaign is a nationwide movement dedicated to raising awareness and taking action to end violence against women and children, with a strong focus on engaging men and boys in the conversation. Since 2021, Humber Polytechnic has actively supported the campaign through awareness initiatives, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour talking circles, discussion panels, and its annual Take Back the Night event. Humber has actively participated and promoted Moose Hide Campaign Day annually and continues to be a leader in raising Campaign awareness. Becoming an Ambassador Campus further strengthens Humber’s leadership in equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.

“Humber Polytechnic is proud to continue to champion awareness and engagement in the Moose Hide Campaign through campus-wide initiatives, student-led activities, and collaborations with local organizations,” said Jason Seright, vice-president, Inclusion, Belonging and Student Experience. “We encourage all members of the Humber community to participate and stand in solidarity against gender-based violence.”

As part of this initiative, Humber continues to implement recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry Calls for Justice. Through education, advocacy, and community partnerships, Humber strives to create a safer, more inclusive environment for all.

"Humber Polytechnic’s dedication to fostering awareness, promoting education, and engaging students in reconciliation efforts demonstrates the power of collective action in ending gender-based violence," said Raven Lacerte, Co-Founder of the Moose Hide Campaign. "We are proud to recognize Humber as a Moose Hide Campaign Ambassador Campus."

"We have witnessed firsthand Humber’s commitment to the Moose Hide Campaign. The institutions dedication goes beyond awareness—it actively empowers students to take a stand against gender-based violence, fostering a culture of respect, advocacy, and action on campus," said Dr. Omar Karim, National Director, Post-Secondary Engagements & Initiatives, Moose Hide Campaign. "Humber’s recognition as an Ambassador Campus is a testament to its leadership in shaping socially conscious students who will carry this movement forward. We look forward to seeing their continued impact in creating safer, more inclusive communities,"

Humber Polytechnic and the Moose Hide Campaign invite everyone to participate in this year’s campaign and take a stand against gender-based violence. For more information and to register for Moose Hide Campaign Day, visit moosehidecampaign.ca/campaignday.
