“We want to be seen as an experienced exam hub for the city.”

So says Katarina Mebaoudj, manager of Education and Training Solutions – Testing Services at Humber Polytechnic. Mebaoudj said, thanks to the partnerships they’ve created and the work they’ve done in the community, Humber has gained a reputation for offering a robust portfolio of licensing and regulatory exams for industries including real estate, condominium management, information technology and more.

Earlier this summer, Humber announced that they would be hosting Red Hat certification exams at the Humber Education and Training Solutions location at 30 Carrier Drive. Prior to this, Humber didn’t offer them as an option at its campuses for students.

The decision demonstrates Humber's continued commitment to supporting a variety of different examinations and is an opportunity for students, alumni and the wider community to gain valuable credentials in the field of IT and open-source technologies. Mebaoudj said it shows how Humber is listening and responding to the needs of its learners and the wider community.

“Red Hat is one example of the wide range of licensing exams we offer and I think it's great that we provide this option to students both enrolled here and those outside of Humber for when they’ve completed their studies and are ready to take that next step in their career” said Mebaoudj.

Wanda Buote, dean, Education and Training Solutions, highlights Humber's role as a versatile educational institution capable of offering programs across various professional sectors and supporting industry needs by providing a venue at the North, Lakeshore or Carrier Drive campuses for licensing and regulatory exams.

Some of the licensing and regulatory testing that Humber offers includes Real Estate Education programs, on behalf of the Real Estate Council of Ontario, the Ontario Building Code exams on behalf of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Condominium Management Regulatory Examinations on behalf of the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario and the License Life Insurance Qualification Program examinations.

“We’ve become very experienced and proficient in different types of exam delivery,” said Mebaoudj.

Humber is connecting with industry to let them know they can come and partner with Humber as it has the right experience, knowledge, people and expertise to offer these testing services for individuals who want to come and receive their designation, added Mebaoudj.

In October, Humber secured a contract to schedule and deliver the Canadian Adult Education Credential exam that has replaced the GED as the credential that’s the equivalent to a high school diploma. Humber offers the exams in partnership with other test centres across the province. Humber is also recognized as a Meazure Learn Test Centre.

Humber belongs to the Canadian Higher Education Testing Association as a member and Mebaoudj sits on the Professional Development Committee. Mebaoudj said it’s a great way to learn best testing practices including exam accessibility and accommodation support from colleagues around the country while also maintaining a strong connection with industry.
