Partners celebrate the successful launch of the Real Estate Salesperson program

Representatives from Humber, the Real Estate Council of Ontario, and NIIT Canada celebrated the successful launch of the program on November 19, 2019.

Humber College, together with NIIT Canada is the new accredited education delivery provider of the Real Estate Salesperson Program in Ontario. The program is delivered on behalf of the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO).

The program is designed to be flexible and is offered online and in locations across Ontario. Students can apply and start coursework at any point during the year, without the time commitment of a full-time, semester-based program. 

“This is the largest program launch of this nature in Humber’s history,” said Wanda Buote, dean, Education & Training Solutions. “When we launched on September 16, we launched with 2,163 new learners starting the first course. There is significant demand for this type of education and we are proud to work with our partners to provide a program that prepares learners to be practice-ready.”

The Humber Real Estate Education Program Office, located at 30 Carrier Drive in Toronto, was designed to create an operational centre for the program with classrooms, a new test centre and is home to an operations team that supports new learners.

Fifteen colleges across the province are also serving as testing sites for the program, helping to make the program more accessible to people across the province.

"In April 2017, when RECO announced the creation of our partnership with NIIT and Humber, we promised that this new program would ensure that new registrants were more practice-ready when they begin their real estate careers," said Joseph Richer, RECO Registrar. "I'm very confident that we have fulfilled our promise to new learners. New registrants graduating from this program will be more practice-ready and therefore will raise the professional standard across the industry."

The program includes flexible online learning with optional facilitated review sessions, interactive simulations, and a knowledge management system that helps prepare learners for their careers in real estate. 

NIIT Canada, a leading global corporate training company, designed and developed the program as well at the technology systems to support it.
