Cole was the first (and current) Civilian Mortuary Affairs Director for the Department of National Defence and the RCMP, serving his country by overseeing the repatriation of fallen Canadian soldiers and heroes who lost their lives protecting Canadian freedom. Cole is fundamental in disaster preparedness efforts alongside government institutions, and, in the face of the 1980s AIDS epidemic, created a protocol for those who died of this and other infectious diseases.

The Premier’s Awards celebrate the achievements of Ontario college graduates. Humber graduates were nominated in seven categories: Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate, Technology, and Apprenticeship.

“We are proud of our alumni and the contributions they make to their sectors, locally and internationally," said Humber College President Chris Whitaker. "Allan Cole is an example of someone who gained critical career-oriented skills at Humber and who continues to apply in his role at MacKinnon & Bowes. The entire college community congratulates Allan on his selection as a Premier’s Award recipient.”

This marks the 13 time a Humber grad has won this prestigious award. Recipients also receive a $5,000 bursary in their name to support current students at their college.
