Pride Month 2025 at Humber Polytechnic is here and this year’s theme recognizes the many journeys to identity, love and liberation.
Humber’s theme for Pride 2025 is “All In: Honouring Every Path to Pride.” It celebrates all 2SLGBTQ+ journeys with intention and joy. The theme is also an invitation to everyone in the Humber and University of Guelph-Humber community to stand in solidarity and celebrate all 2SLGBTQ+ journeys.
“Because when we’re all in, everyone belongs,” said Kimberly Daniels, manager, Student Inclusion & Belonging at Humber.
The Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging in partnership with the LGBTQ+ Resource Centre and the 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group are celebrating Pride Month and have organized a series of events throughout the month.
On June 3 there's an opening ceremony and the raising of the Pride and Trans flags at Lakeshore Campus. It runs from 12-1:30 p.m. For those unable to attend, there will also be a small flag raising at North Campus at noon.
The Pride Picnic runs from 12-2 p.m. on June 12 at Lakeshore Campus. Attendees can enjoy sunshine and snacks as they find connection and camaraderie among the community.
The 2SLGBTQ+ Village Tour runs 12-4 p.m. on June 16. Join the LGBTQ+ Resource Centre and staff from The ArQuives for a guided walking tour of the Church-Wellesley Gay Village.
Both the Pride Picnic and 2SLGBTQ+ Village Tour are for students.
The Trans March happens June 27 and the Dyke March happens June 28 while the Pride Parade happens June 29. LGBTQ+ Resource Centre staff will attend these events, which are part of Pride Toronto, and invite the Humber community to join them.
Those interested in attending any of the marches are asked to register for each one they wish to attend. Organizers say that marching in the Pride Parade is a powerful way to show solidarity with the 2SLGBTQ+ community and to advocate for their rights. It allows individuals to come together and celebrate diversity while also raising awareness about the ongoing struggles and discrimination faced by the community. It’s also a way for allies to show their support.
More information on 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, terminology, and issues for the curious, questioning, teachers and allies can be found in the 2SLGBTQ+ Education Guide.
These are just some of the events happening for Pride Month. For a full listing of events, visit Humber’s LGBTQ events webpage.
