The Humber Public Relations Graduate Certificate program is hosting its sixth annual sustainability event on Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For the first time ever, the event will take place virtually on Microsoft Teams due to COVID-19.

Sustainably Snug is a virtual slumber party connecting people to raise awareness of both environmental and social sustainability from home.

“Planning Humber PR’s first virtual event with such an enthusiastic and supportive team has been an exciting process,” said Ashley Bello, co-chair, Sustainably Snug.

“Though working virtually has had its challenges, it’s helped the team keep in close contact, and has allowed us to reach our classmates quickly.”

The goal is to make environmentally sustainable practices seem feasible, especially during a pandemic. We hope our guests leave the Sustainably Snug event knowing that the smallest changes can have a significant impact.  The Sustainably Snug logo - a globe wearing a safety mask and a purple night cap

“Overseeing Humber’s first online event is exciting, and the virtual setting reflects our new normal as we adapt to life during the pandemic,” said Kelsey DeMelo, co-chair, Sustainably Snug.

“Hosting this sustainability event virtually also reduces the waste a normal in-person event creates.”

This year’s event will include  vendors such as WWF Canada, Chartwells and BEST Service Pros and more. Each speaker will discuss how we can begin making small changes for a better and greener future.

Every Humber student who attends has the chance to win various raffle prizes such as a S’Well water bottle or gift cards for Starbucks, Indigo and Amazon.

At the end of the event, the hosts will announce the winner of a luxurious weekend getaway.
